Don't Hate The Playaz

Last month ITV2 aired a new topical comedy game show called Don't Hate The Playaz.

The show is based on both the UK and US Urban Grime/Hip-Hop music scene; mixing the talents and personalities of some of the UK's well-known names and faces.

The game show is hosted by Jordan Stephens (one-half of The Rizzle Kicks) and filmed from an industrial, unestablished theme based staged set, where the panel is placed on a stage and the audience is stood watching in a gig atmosphere.

The panel is made up of two teams:
One team is led by the Queens Speech slayer herself, Lady Leshurr, with comedian Darren Harriott at her side. While the other team is headed up by television and radio presenter/first lady of Grime Maya Jama.

Both teams feature celeb guests every week and battle it out in front of a live studio audience.

Unlike other UK based panel shows where the host decides where the points are placed and who wins the rounds of games; the audience decides who wins and loses each round for the ultimate prize: bragging rights!

The show also features Amelia Dimoldenberg as a reporter with her awkward and hilarious performance.  She is a Youtube personality, journalist and comedian who goes on light-hearted chicken dates with the U.K.'s top Rap, Grime artists and other personalities as part of her Chicken Shop Dates series.

As well as a live DJ on set to drop the tracks – DJ Shortee Blitz (player of such artists as Wiley, Yungen, Scribz/LDSnoop Dogg, Skepta, Wu-TangDrake, Dizzee and Kendrick) leads the teams with big banging tracks from a plethora of artists.

The show leads with so much comedy, banter and all round fun which I believe brings a broader, positive perspective and openness to the UK television broadcasted nation. As we all know, news, media and propaganda has a negative outlook on this world and the scene that we all know, love and support.

Take Keith Lemon's Celebrity Juice for example... but sprinkle it with UK artists, a dash of finesse, fashion, culture, a live DJ, a crowd, laughter, fun games, rap battles, random behaviour and no behaviour!!

Honestly, it made me smile to watch and I love the concept of freedom that ITV2 has allowed these big characters and names to have. Nothing but their uncensored authentic selves.

Catch it every week Thursday 9PM on ITV2. And in case you missed the episodes watch them now on itv.com/hub/dont-hate-the-playaz

Catch you in 2

Much love & light
